This workshop will go beyond the “how to” books. Learn from 2 professionals who have worked in the industry for decades, including having owned multiple establishments. They will share what it takes to open and operate a restaurant/food service establishment in New York City. They will use real-life examples to talk about the realities of what is takes to open and grow a restaurant. Get your questions answered!

BILL BELIDA

In 2008, Bill started The Salon Group, a food services consulting firm, and since has been involved in nearly one hundred projects in the industry. All the businesses on which he has consulted have grossed over $150,000,000 in first year sales, ranging from smaller existing operations to creating and establishing larger brands (some launching multiple locations). 

Growing up in a family that owned several restaurants, he worked in every position both front and back of the house and in the mid-90’s owned three restaurants consecutively for which he personally negotiated a successful buyout. 

Bill’s expertise, learned over the decades, has allowed him to lead workshops on restaurant operations and openings for the New York City branch of SCORE (an SBA affiliate), the New York State Empire Development Corporation and the NYC Small Business Services. 

ELLIOT MERBERG

Elliot is the president of ENE Consulting Services, Inc. He served as President/CEO of large food service distribution business serving restaurants and institutions; senior VP of large company providing financial and marketing services to restaurants nationwide. He is an Assistant professor, Cornell U. School of Hotel Administration. Elliott is a graduate of NYU and is a SCORE NYC mentor.
