Richard Lorenzen is described by Entrepreneur magazine as a New York media entrepreneur and top marketing influencer. As CEO of Fifth Ave Brands, a full-service PR firm, Richard works with Silicon Valley tech startups, New York hedge funds and national politicians. He offers “aggressive, Type A PR for high growth companies.”
Richard had founded and led Fifth Avenue Brands for six years before reaching out to SCORE mentor Alvin Roselin in 2014. His company was growing rapidly and he sought ideas for more value-added sales strategies. But, he was traveling heavily at the time and their schedules didn’t line up. He ran into Alvin a few months later at the SCORE annual award event in Washington DC. Seeing how SCORE helped other entrepreneurs inspired him to reconnect the mentoring relationship.
This time around, the mentoring focused on growth strategies. Alvin helped him formalize team and task management practices and create internal systems that are expandable and replicable. He urged Richard to always focus on the long term. In hiring, choose candidates that you can invest in, promote, and grow with the company. With clients, continually build relationships, don’t focus on transactions, and make sure to stay in touch with former clients.
